NATCHEZ — What’s left of Tropical Depression 5 is hanging out over southwest Mississippi and northeast Louisiana with no plans to move anytime soon.

Just over three inches of rain had fallen in downtown Natchez by noon, according to a weather gauge at the Adams County Civil Defense Office. Higher amounts of rainfall have been reported in the county.

Areas of Adams County and Concordia Parish are experiencing significant flooding. Apple Road in Vidalia is closed, and York Road and a portion of Lower Woodville Road in Adams County are flooded.

Robin’s Lake on Robin’s Lake Road in Adams County is approaching flood stage as well.

The area is under a Flash Flood Warning until 4:30 p.m., however Jackson National Weather Service Meteorologist Ariel Cohen said the warning could be extended.

Cohen said the steady rain would continue for the afternoon, remaining heavy into the night. Rains could decrease late tonight, but pick back up Thursday, he said. Rain is predicted for the area for the remainder of the week.
