natchez — A special co-ed softball tournament benefitting The Sunshine Shelter will be Friday and Saturday.

Face painting and a 100-foot slip and slide will also be available for children.

The money raised from the tournament will be donated to the Sunshine Shelter. Recently the shelter learned it would lose a large percentage of its grant funding in the fall.

The shelter provides emergency shelter and care for children removed from abusive or neglected home situations.

Sponsors are needed for teams as well as donations for concession stand items, raffle items and volunteers for umpires, scorebook keepers and cleanup crew members. Teams are also needed and can register for $130 per team.
