BAKER, La. — Services for George W. Ellis Jr., 72, formerly of Vidalia, who died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010, at his residence, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Abundant Life Church with the Rev. John Collard officiating.

Graveside services will follow at Jacob’s Cemetery in Liberty under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Vidalia.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from noon until service time Friday at the church.

Mr. Ellis was born Aug. 3, 1938, the son of George W. Ellis Sr. and Zell Daniels. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Vidalia.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Martha Ann; three daughters, Deanie Partridge and husband, Andy, Cindy Neames and Sharon Willis and husband, Mike; one sister, Virginia D’Abadie and husband, Spanky; five grandchildren, Tasha Oglesby, G.W. Partridge, Heather Murray, Martie Donald and Alesha Neames; and six great-grandchildren, Marlee and Ruby Claire Donald, Cole and Clara Faith Partridge and George Ellis “Eli” Oglesby.

Pallbearers will be G.W. Partridge, Daniel Oglesby, Brian Donald, Josh LaCombe, Allen Murray and Norman Neames Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tasha Oglesby, Heather Murray, Martie Donald and Alesha Neames.
