VIDALIA — Services for Lula Lucille Greene Armstead, 70, of Queens Village, N.Y., formerly of Vidalia, who died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010, at North Shore Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, N.Y., will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Union Baptist Church in Vidalia with the Rev. Dave Mays officiating.

Burial will follow at the Vidalia Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Armstead was born Jan. 10, 1940, in Monterey, the daughter of Betty Lee Greene. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.

Mrs. Armstead was a devoted Christian, who served as an usher, church school teacher, youth counselor, kitchen staff and the mission ministry.

She was preceded in death by her mother and one son, Clinton Trask.

Survivors include her husband, Eddie Armstead; 14 siblings, Jean Cleveland and husband, Willie, William Cleveland and Erma Greene, all of Queens Village, Ruth Brown and husband, Fredrick, of Mobile, Ala., Ina Rea Hill and wife, Alvina, of Houma, La., Robert Greene of Flint, Mich., Samuel Hill Jr., Cyrus Greene and Charles Greene, all of Vidalia, Shelia Promise and husband, Alex, Betty Bindon and husband, James, Patricia Greene and Weldon Greene, all of Ferriday, George Skipper of Houston, Texas and Jesse Hill of New Orleans; two grandsons; five brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; one stepdaughter; seven nephews, Warren Greene and wife, Vernetta, Fredrick Greene, Jason Greene, Jamarlen Promise, Reginald Bailey, Pierre Ellis and David Rowan and wife, Shavon; seven nieces, Yolanda Prince and husband, Cicone, Shelitha Promise, Sira Ellis, Crystal Greene, Fatima Cleveland, Tashanna Cleveland and Chelsea Scott; two devoted aunts, Betty Addison of Jena, La., and Viola Green of Clayton; one uncle, L.C. Addison of Flint; adopted mother and her family, Leona Black of Mobile, Ala.; two adopted sisters and best friends, Katherine Gay and husband, Howard, and Betty Thomas, all of New Orleans; and godmother, Vergie Washington.

Pallbearers will be Clifford Payne, Kyle Cubie, Anthony Brown, Darnell Cubie, Ernie Banks. Richard Harrison, Franklin Banks and Thaddeus Singleton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Warren L. Greene, Fredrick L. Greene, Jamarlen D. Promise, Reginald Bailey, Pierre Ellis, Cicone Prince and David Rowan.
