Learning was the theme of last week, it seems; and what better way to spend our time than continuing to grow and learn?
Let’s review a few great things we learned about last week.
Copiah-Lincoln Community College is preparing to start an English as a Second Language class for area Spanish-speaking residents. Such a class would give these residents a chance to learn needed skills to become a more productive part of society.
Naomi Walton is just one area teachers doing something unique in the classroom and seeing good results. Walton, a sixth-grade teacher at Morgantown Elementary, uses role-playing that her students understand to deliver her classroom lessons. Our top-notch teachers deserve more recognition than we could ever give them.
The Concordia Parish Library in Vidalia is in the midst of a three-week series featuring short stories of the South. The group discussions give area residents a chance to get away from reality TV and back into literary thought.
Natchez High junior Jonathan Weir excels at school, standardized testing and more. The driven teen is focused on his future, and he’s setting a great example along the way. We know Weir can accomplish whatever he sets his mind to, and we wish him luck in the years to come.
A new week brings more chances to grow, learn and enjoy life in the Miss-Lou, and that’s exactly what we plan to do. How about you?
