Joke insulting to women, public

On Sept. 7, I, Barbara Bynum, attended the Wilkinson County Board of Supervisors’ monthly meeting, along with Mr. Leon Stewart.
We were seeking assistance from the board members on addressing the members about a supplementary hour toward closing time.
The president of the board made the statement, “an old woman told me after 1 a.m. nothing is open but legs.” Since I was the only female addressing the panel at that time, I felt the statement was directed toward me. The other four board members found it amusing. There were loud outbursts of laughter.
I am asking the question to them, the board members. If it was Mrs. McNabb, Mrs. Hollins, Mrs. Nettles or Mrs. Haynes or Mrs. Morgan, would they have found it so amusing?
The board members were born of a female; they also have wives, sisters and daughters. Would they want a male in a public board meeting to address their wives, sisters, daughters the way I was addressed?
A joke, that is what the board of supervisor’s president, Mr. Robert Morgan, and the rest of the board members made out of the assistance Mr. Stewart and I were seeking from them.
The statement was completely unacceptable, disrespectful and very unprofessional.
