MEADVILLE — A Natchez man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison on armed robbery charges in a December holdup of the Roxie branch of the Bank of Franklin.

Donald J. Wilson, 278 Cranfield Road, was convicted Wednesday in Franklin County circuit court, according to District Attorney Ronnie Harper.

Harper said Wilson was one of two suspects that entered the bank at 106 West Blvd., on Dec. 2, 2009, and fled with more than $92,000 in cash. Both suspects had their faces covered, and one of the suspects carried a knife.

Officials also suspect another person was involved in the robbery and acted as the getaway driver. The robbers fled in a small white, pickup.

Wilson was arrested in January at the intersection of U.S. 84 and Cranfield Road.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the robbery and is still looking for other suspects.
