Parent University set for Thursday

Parent University is a district-wide event for all parents from public/non-public schools to attend training at one location.
The parent university will offer workshops on the MCT2, Subject Area Testing, test-taking strategies and suggestions on how to assist your children at home.
The university is for parents of children in kindergarten through 12th grade and will begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the Natchez High auditorium.
Two 45-minute sessions focusing on the following subjects will be a part of the night: math/algebra, English/language arts, reading, science/biology, history/AP History, physical education and foreign languages. The sessions will be presented by Natchez-Adams School District teachers.
In addition to the teacher presentations, high school guidance counselors will conduct sessions about graduation requirements.
New to the parent university is the Supplemental Education Service Provider Vendor Fair. Parents can visit vendors and learn what they have to offer students in afterschool programs. The vendor fair will be in the cafeteria.
Sessions will include:
For Frazier Primary students — reading led by Jennifer Haile; math led by Lisa Lewis
For West Primary students — reading led by Kirby Watts and Angele Blaney; math led by Kim Godfrey and Nikki Tyson; physical education led by Charm Powell; and entertainment provided by Roderick Whitley and West students.
For McLaurin Elementary students — Genie Buffett “Eat all you can eat” led by LaTarsha Thomas, Robin Conner, Terri Fuqua, Laverle McEntyre and Linda Hampton, for third graders; “Connecting the Curriculum with 12 powerful words” led by Linda Patten, Amanda Mercer, Kenethia Doss, Allison Burns, Mary Tanner, Loran Scott and Karen Collins, for fourth graders; “Are they thinking?” led by Evelyn Geter for gifted fourth graders; and “Speed Stackers” led by physical education teachers Babbs Grey and Charlie Williams.
For Morgantown Elementary students — fifth-grade math led by Toni Martin; sixth-grade math led by Pamela Hilton; language arts led by Shalanda White; and reading led by Naomi Walton.
For Robert Lewis Middle School students — English led by Cassandra Jones
For Natchez High School students — algebra led by Lillie Bryant; English led by Demetric Cain; biology led by Delilah Mitchell; U.S. History led by Margaret Beasley and Ambreya Noble; AP U.S. History led by Creseda Crawford; foreign languages led by Angela Brooks, Susan Callon and Craig Bilbrew.
So come out and join us for this special event. Door prizes will be given out during the various sessions, and a light supper will be provided.
