Edward Frith

MONTEREY — Services for Edward Wiley Frith, 73, of Monterey, who died Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. today at Lismore Baptist Church with the Rev. C.D. Beard and the Rev. Kevin Simms officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Mr. Frith was born Nov. 9, 1936, in Wallace Ridge, La., the son of Corry Herbert Frith Sr. and Minnie Gertrude Frith. He was a member of Lismore Baptist Church.

Mr. Frith retired after more than 30 years with International Paper Company. He was also employed by Georgia Pacific Paper Company in Zachary, La., Oxirain Chemical in Channelview, Texas, Good Hope Oil Refinery in Good Hope, La., and Martco. After his retirement, he continued consulting on power generation systems for a number of companies.

Edward proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He loved to hunt, fish, go to family reunions and rock his grandchildren in his rocking chair. The happiest times in his life were when he was spending time with his family and friends. He was a very sweet, giving man, always looking out for everyone else.

He was a perfectionist, in that, everything he did, he did to the best of his ability.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Corry Frith Jr.; two sisters, Mae Frith Peoples and Betty Frith Scott; and two grandchildren, Brice Lynn Clark and Brady Lane Clark.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Faye Andrews Holley Frith; one daughter, Lana Clark and husband, Larry, of Mansfield, La.; three sons, Terry Frith and wife, Beth, of Lafayette, La., Gary Frith of Central, La., and Corky Frith of Mansfield; five brothers, Gus Frith and wife, Joyce, Tom Frith and wife, Zora, all of McCall Creek, Albert Frith and wife, Sharyn, of Oklahoma City, Okla., Charlie Hodges and wife, Debbie, of Crowville, La., and Raymond Nicholson and wife, Diane, of Jonesville; two sisters, Ann Marchese of Jacksonville, Fla., and Connie Sue Harris of Coosbay, Ore.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ben Frith, Corey Frith, Larry Clark, Lee Charpentier, Marion Smith and Woody Long.

Honorary pallbearers will be co-workers at Martco and Jerry Buckner.
