Let’s get moving, Miss-Lou

Vidalia has always been a “City on the move,” and we hope Natchez will join in this weekend.

A national campaign to get children and adults outside and moving will take hold in Natchez Saturday as the St. Catherine Wildlife Refuge and the Natchez National Historical Park join forces to promote a bit of exercise.

The options are many, and anyone who is able needs to get outside and get moving.

The day starts at 10 a.m. at the refuge with a variety of “wild” games for children. Events will move the bluff at noon, including a tricycle rodeo and Civil War re-enactment activity.

At 3 p.m., the party goes to Melrose for a scavenger hunt around the grounds.

Southern fried chicken, sweet tea and grandma’s dessert have certainly made their mark on our great community. Our state regularly claims the ugly title of fattest in the country.

It’s high time we started taking back our bodies, and there’s no better way to do it than on a gorgeous fall day with a few dozen friends.

We have plenty of food in these parts, but we also have some of the best outdoor activities in the world.

Fitness, the refuge and the park service make a great trio, we just have to take advantage of them.

Now, Let’s Move Miss-Lou.
