JONESVILLE — Services for Aubrey Ballard Chisum Jr., 70, of Jonesville, who died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010, in Sicily Island, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ray Varnado officiating.

Burial will follow at Highland Park Cemetery in Sicily Island under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Jonesville.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Chisum was born Nov. 22, 1939, in Gilbert, La., the son of Buddy and Marjorie Chisum. He was a graduate of Sicily Island High School and later received two bachelor degrees, one from Northeast Louisiana University and one from Louisiana State University.

A.B. began his teaching career in Sikes, La. He was later employed by Catahoula Parish School Board, serving throughout the parish but mainly at Block High School. Upon his retirement, he managed Chisum Land Company.

Mr. A.B. served his country in the U.S. Army. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church of Jonesville and a member of Keystone Lodge No. 213 in Sicily Island.

Mr. Chisum was an avid hunter and spent countless hours in the woods with his son. He was a rabid Louisiana State University fan. He was an honest and generous man, especially to his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Susan Bain Chisum; one son, John Chisum and wife, Kelly, of Sicily Island; one brother, Stewart Montgomery Chisum and wife, Bessie, of Beaumont, Texas; and one sister, Blair Augusta Chisum Irwin and husband, Steve, of Baton Rouge.

Pallbearers will be Dr. W.C. Coney, J. Tuffy Parish, Raymond Nicholson, Clarence Richard, James Parish, Austin Richard, Chad Champlin and Clay Fairbanks.

Donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
