VICKSBURG — A funeral Mass for Christine D. Lambert, 69, of Vicksburg, who died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at the home of her daughter in Allen, Texas, surrounded by her family, will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Michael Catholic Church with the Rev. P.J. Curley, pastor, as celebrant.

Burial will be at 3 p.m. at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Riles Funeral Home in Vicksburg.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.

Mrs. Lambert was born in Ethelsville, Ala., the daughter of Marshall Nutie Dowdle and Geather Pate Dowdle. She was a graduate of New Hope High School in Columbus and a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority.

Mrs. Lambert was a former resident of Columbus and Natchez and had been a resident of Vicksburg since 1971. Prior to moving to Vicksburg, she taught at Morgantown Elementary School.

She was a member of the Chi Omega Alumni Society, a former member of the Hester Flowers Garden Club and other civic activities.

Mrs. Lambert was a communicant at St. Michael Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, John Q. Lambert Jr.; three daughters, Melissa L. Holland and husband, Tony, of McKinney, Texas, Renee L. Platt and husband, Steve, of Allen, Texas and Jennifer L. Robinson and husband, Brad, of Dallas; five grandchildren, Will Holland, Garrett Holland, Nicholas Platt, Lorna Platt and Grafton Robinson; one sister, Michele Daves and husband, Larry, of Columbus; and one brother, Chester Dowdle and wife, Mildred, of Alpharetta, Ga.

Memorials may be made to St. Michael Catholic Church Building Fund, 100 St. Michael Place, Vicksburg, MS 39180.

Pallbearers will be Steve Platt, Tony Holland, Brad Robinson, Atwell Daves, Shawn Dyson, Bill Lambert, John R. Junkin and Travis Vance III.
