Cast iron pots sure to get things cooking
Published 12:00 am Monday, October 25, 2010
Come learn about cast iron with a fiery flare! Bring your old cast iron pot and learn about the health benefits, the history, the value and much more!
Join the Concordia Parish Library and the LSU AgCenter at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Vidalia Library to learn more from Mr. John Transier, the “Pot Man.”
Mr. Transier will provide information on manufacturers, approximate value of your pieces and the correct way to “season” your cast iron.
By the way, the best thing about cast iron is that it is virtually indestructible.
Mr. Transier encourages cooks to season their cast iron to keep it functional for years to come.
The LSU Extension staff will discuss the benefits of cast iron cookware in regards to your health, and will demonstrate how cooking with cast iron provides a necessary mineral that your body needs.
Learn all of this and more when you attend this fun and informative program!
Mark your calendars for this Tuesday.
Join us at the Concordia Parish Library in Vidalia at 6 p.m.
This event is co-sponsored by the LSU AgCenter and is free and open to the public.
Ashley Powell is a supporter of the Concordia Parish Library.
