Area football teams go long

What fantastic season it has been to be a football fan in Natchez!
All four local teams started the season off with undefeated streaks, sending notice to the state that Adams County knows football.
Now, with the season nearly over, three of the four Natchez teams have clinched a playoff spot.
Trinity, Cathedral and Adams County Christian School will play in the postseason. Natchez High has a shot at the playoffs, and Friday night’s game at Wingfield will be crucial.
The four Natchez schools only have six losses between them. They have 32 wins.
Just like always, the teams have battled injury and illness to come out on top, and we couldn’t be more proud of our local athletes, their coaches and parents.
As the season winds down and the real fun begins, we wish all the players good luck and good health.
Coaches will tell you that one of the biggest worries this late in the season is injury. Caution, care and a bit of prayer are the only things that can allay their worries in the end.
No matter what happens going forward, we can all remember that football 2010 was one of the best years yet.
Of course, we certainly hope we are still watching local football in late November and December.
