NATCHEZ — Services for Dena Alexander Thornton, 55, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, at her residence, will be at 1 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kurt Wilson, the Rev. Preston Holder and the Rev. Rusty Bowlin officiating.

Dena was born April 27, 1955, in Natchez, the daughter of Willie Woodroe Alexander and Rita Rae Allred Alexander. She was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant sister, baby girl Alexander; and her beloved dog, Max.

Survivors include one son, Brad Thornton and wife, Marcie, of Meadville; two daughters, Stacy Roberts and husband, Eddie, and Emily Wiggins and husband, Matt, all of Vidalia; eight grandchildren, Caylen Roberts, Autumn Thornton, Caleb McGrew, Jordan Clark, Kason Clark, Rankin Wiggins, Leah Roberts and Brandon Roberts; eight step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Alexis Faust and husband, Fred, of Sealy, Texas; two brothers, Gary Alexander and wife, Janice, and Woodroe Alexander and wife, Marilyn, all of Natchez; four nieces; one nephew; eight great-nieces and nephews; and a number of loving cousins.

Honorary pallbearers will be co-workers of International Paper Company.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Houston, Texas ASPCA.
