NATCHEZ — The 2010 AYA football season came to a close on a beautiful Thursday night at Bobby Marks Stadium on the Adams County Christian School campus.

Champions were crowned in the third and fourth grade and fifth and sixth grade divisions.

Sandy Creek Farms defeated After Hours Clinic 8-6 in a hard-fought game to win the fifth and sixth-grade championship, while Nettles Electric defeated Natchez Ford to win the third and fourth-grade championship.

AYA board member Gary Farmer said Thursday’s games were a perfect end to another successful season.

“The season went real well,” Farmer said. “Everything seemed to go real smoothly. I want to thank all of our sponsors that sponsored each team for the AYA league.”

In addition to the sponsors, Farmer said the league wouldn’t be successful without parents and volunteers.

“We wouldn’t be able to do anything without them,” Farmer said. “We have volunteers doing everything from working the gate and concessions to the chain gang. Everything is all volunteer. We couldn’t have a league without them.”

And while the AYA football season is now over, the league will take a small break before breaking out a different-shaped ball.

“In about a month we’ll be ready for AYA basketball,” Farmer said. “We’re looking forward to it.”
