FARMERVILLE, La. — The Ferriday Trojans didn’t show much respect for Farmerville’s eight-game winning streak Friday night, defeating the Farmers 32-22.

Led by De’Vante Scott, Jarvis Brooks and Alfred Brown, Ferriday upset Farmerville 32-22 Friday night to win the District 2-2A championship.

Scott and Brooks each had more than 100 yards rushing and, as Ferriday head coach Chad Harkins added, Brown had a couple of big catches. One of those receptions went for a touchdown.

“The offense just played outstanding; the offensive line did a tremendous job,” Harkins said. “I just can’t say enough about the kids. They bought in to what we’re doing and it paid off for them.”

Ferriday (7-3, 5-0) ended up with more than 300 yards of total offense.

Harkins also credited the effort of the Trojans’ defense in the second half for stepping up and making big stops.

“With the exception of one drive, they didn’t have too many yards,” Harkins said. “De’Vante Scott, Marques Lewis and Derius Jolla all did a good job.”

Farmerville fell to 8-2 overall and finished district play with a 4-1 record.

Vidalia 40, Jena 28

VIDALIA — On senior night at Dee Faircloth Viking Stadium, the Vidalia Vikings ended the 2010 season with a win over Jena in the District 3-3A finale for both teams Friday night.

“We played hard. The seniors went out on a good note. I’m just pleased the season ended on a good note,” Vidalia head coach Gary Paul Parnham Jr. said.

Parnham said the key to the Vikings’ victory was the running game. Vidalia quarterback Caleb Vines had three rushing touchdowns.

“We had a good rushing game. We ran the ball hard,” Parnham said.

Vidalia finished 2-8 overall and 1-5 in district play while Jena ended up 3-7 overall and 1-5 in district play.

Block 40, Tensas High 0

ST. JOSEPH, La. — The Block Bears finished a surprising regular season with a shutout win over the Tensas High Panthers in their District 3-1A finale Thursday night.

Block, ranked No. 9 in the latest LSWA Class 1A poll and currently atop that classification’s power rankings, improved to 8-2 overall and finished in second place behind top-ranked St. Mary with a 4-1 record in district play.
