NATCHEZ — Redneck Adventures is set to host its third annual Handicap Hunt Saturday, Nov. 13 at Indian Mound Hunting Club.

The hunt will allow youth from the Miss-Lou with various disabilities the chance to experience the thrills of a white tail chase, Redneck Adventures’ Jim Allgood said.

“Local volunteer hunters, men and women will provide a white-tail hunting experience in a family hunting camp environment,” Allgood said. “Without this, many of these kids would never have the opportunity to enjoy a white tail outing.”

Prospective hunters range from children with heart issues, various disabilities and children in wheelchairs, Allgood said. The Redneck Adventures television show will be shooting the event for airing at a future date.

“There will be guys out there to spotlight certain kids,” Allgood said. “I don’t know which specific kids they’ll spotlight. We’ve filmed it in years past, and it’s been fantastic.”

Allgood also said Indian Hills has stepped up in providing the handicapped hunters a chance to chase deer.

“Indian Hills stepped up majorly last year and hosted approximately eight kids,” Allgood said. “They will be doing the same this year. We also want to thank fine folks like Aunt Jenny Guedon and others that, in years past, have stepped up to the plate to allow these special needs kids an opportunity to harvest a while tail.”

For Allgood personally, getting to blessed disabled youth with a hunting trip is something that’s priceless, he said.

“One of the most awesome deer hunts I’ve ever been a part of was to have a kid paralyzed from the neck down take his first eight-point buck,” Allgood said.

“For that kid to tell his football coach, on film, that it was better than those three touchdown passes he caught three years ago for his team was priceless. This type of event is something that makes us really appreciate what we are blessed with.”

Hunters and volunteers will meet early in the morning Nov. 13 at the BP station in Roxy.
