Developer at work is refreshing

Absence does make the heart grow fonder, and that’s been good news for Chandler Russ.
The lack of a qualified, knowledgeable economic developer roaming the streets of Adams County for what seems like ages means it’s extra special to see Russ now at work.
From all accounts, he’s hit the ground running, and it’s exciting to see him popping up in all the right places.
Russ met with the Adams County Board of Supervisors Monday to seek support for the formation of a regional rail authority.
Russ had already talked with the Adams County Port Authority — the local body responsible for the railroad — and received their OK to proceed. Monday, the supervisors jumped on board.
Though we are certain that taking over a previously empty office has left Russ with many rabbits to chase, it’s great to see that his focus is on one very important area — saving our rail line.
Quickly forming a regional authority with all the right leaders from Adams, Franklin and Lincoln counties is key. Being ready to spring into action, no matter what it may be, to save the railroad is essential.
Hopefully local leaders will continue to work with Russ, not against him. He is our paid professional; he has a job to do and letting him do it will be crucial to our community’s success.
