VIDALIA — A Natchez man was sentenced this week on negligent homicide charges in connection with May 2008 fatal four-car pileup on the Mississippi River bridge.
Cedric A. Hunter, 26, who reported his current address at 1401 U.S. 80 East, Clinton, was sentenced to serve five years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections, but all five years were suspended. He received five years probation.
Hunter, who reported his address to be 6 Newman Drive, Natchez, at the time of his arrest in 2008, was charged with first offense DWI on the day of the accident.
The accident occurred shortly before 4 a.m., May 18, 2008, in the eastbound lane of the bridge.
At the time, police said those in the vehicles had just left a Vidalia nightclub and were involved in illegal racing on the bridge when the accident occurred.
Two men, 20-year-old Terrence Johnson and 22-year-old Kelvin Keys, died from injuries they received during the crash. Keys and Johnson were in the same vehicle, and a third victim in the vehicle with them was injured but eventually recovered.
Others were reportedly in the vehicles at the time, but fled the scene.
Two counts of vehicular homicide were filed against Hunter in June 2008.
He was sentenced Monday.
