Natchez — Gifts of Robert Burns Jr., in memory of his parents, Robert and Hortense Burns art exhibit will be on display locally at Historic Jefferson College through Jan. 7.
This exhibition highlights artworks donated to the Mississippi Museum of Art in Jackson, from one of its most active donors, Robert Burns Jr.
HJC is an affiliate traveling exhibit partner of the Mississippi Museum of Art.
The collector’s passion for fine draftsmanship, architecture, and his parents’ love of nature emerge in this presentation.
An avid print collector, Burns first shared his art with a gift to the MMA’s permanent collection in 2003 with the donation of Man Monkey, an etching by John Sloan.
Along with this piece, prints by John James Audubon, John Woodhouse Audubon, James McNeill Whistler and John Taylor Arms are also presented.
The exhibition is supported with funds provided by the MMA’s statewide Traveling Exhibition Endowment, a fund made possible through significant private contributions matched by the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
Historic Jefferson College is located in Washington, four miles northeast of Natchez, off U.S. 61 North.
The exhibit is featured in the Prospere Hall Visitors’ Center and is free of charge.
