FERRIDAY — Services for Richard Thomas “Fuzzy” Matthews, 56, of Waterproof, who died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, in Ferriday, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Comer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Curtis Smith officiating.
Burial will follow at Oakley Cemetery, in Gilbert, La., under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Matthews was born April 5, 1954, in Ferriday, the son of Richard Paul and Margaret Vest Matthews.
Mr. Matthews loved to drive. He spent the greater part of his life driving 18-wheelers. He spent the latter part of his life farming for Roger Carter. He enjoyed riding on the levee with his grandkids, nieces and nephews. He loved making them happy. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Walker and Catherine King and husband, Bill, all of Vidalia; three sisters, Paulette Evans of Sicily Island, Margaret Allen and husband, Barney, and Pearl Nugent and husband, Oscar, all of Waterproof; three grandchildren, Savannah Walker, Lindsay Walker and William Casey King; one special niece, Helen Temple; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Bo Allen, Paul Allen, Bennie Evans, R.C. Temple, Matt Myers, Bo Griffin and Jeff Bonnette.
Honorary pallbearers will be Owen Mize, Roger Carter, Furman Ulmer, Robert Wiley, Abe Warren and Glen DeLaughter.
