NATCHEZ — Services for Josiah Daniel “Joe” Howell, 64, of Fayette, who died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at his residence, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Purvis officiating.

Burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Crystal Springs Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Howell was born Dec. 31, 1945, in Crystal Springs, the son of George William and Eula Mae Traver Howell.

Mr. Howell was retired from International Paper Company and served in the Mississippi National Guard. He was a Master Mason and a member of S.B. Stampley Masonic Lodge No. 222 in Roxie where he received his 32nd degree Scottish Rite. Mr. Howell was a member of United Commercial Travelers and served as secretary of Woodmen of the World.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Howell Ferguson of Crystal Springs and Deborah Howell Toups of Ocean Springs; two grandchildren, Maggie Toups and Avery Toups, both of Ocean Springs; one sister, Sue Landrum; and two brothers, Doug and Roger Howell, all of Crystal Springs.

Pallbearers will be Leon Boyte, Timmy Nations, Buddy Emerick, Barry Chatman, R.W. Barnhill, Jimmy Allen, Frank Rhinehart and Calvin Young.
