FERRIDAY — The Ferriday Police Department is on the hunt for a man wanted in connection with an armed robbery at the Family Dollar in Ferriday where the suspect got away with approximately $500.
Assistant Police Chief Johnny Evans said the suspect came into the store close to closing time at 10 p.m.
The suspect proceeded to purchase an item from the store, and when the cash register opened, he pulled out a silver pistol and forced the Family Dollar employee up against the wall.
The suspect took the money from the register and fled on foot out the door.
The employee from Family Dollar went outside after the suspect left to see which direction he was heading.
He was reported as heading toward B&B Bugs in Ferriday, and later toward the Mississippi River Bridge.
Evans said the suspect is a black male in his late 20s or early 30s and is approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall.
He was wearing khaki pants, a red shirt and a black, hooded jacket.
Evans said the FPD is investigating the case, and looking for leads at the moment.
“We are hoping someone will come up with something to help us,” he said.
