NATCHEZ — A 14-year-old Franklin County girl has been missing since late Saturday afternoon.

Franklin County Sheriff James Newman said the girl, Madison Drew Michols, has been missing since approximately 5 p.m. Saturday from the Hamburg area.

Michols and her mother, Allyson Smith, had a disagreement before Michols took off down the road on foot, Newman said.

“We do not suspect any foul play at this point,” Newman said. “We think she is just away with some friends.

“We are investigating as we speak.”

Newman said if anyone had any information, to call the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office at 601-384-2323. Newman said Michols has long brown hair, is approximately 5’6 and weighs 115 pounds.

Melanie Waller, who employs Michols’ grandmother, Valerie Aldridge, said the family is having a hard time.

“(Michols) left, and it is like she dropped off the face of the earth,” Waller said. “The family has gone door to door looking, and calling.

“It just breaks my heart. I know the grandma, and I know she is having a hard time of it, and the momma is missing her child.”

Waller said Michols does not have a cell phone.
