Natchez Day gives reason to celebrate

Move over Mon and Tues, there’s a new day in town — Natchez Day.
It’s no small feat to have an entire day named after you, so Natchez should be proud.
The Mississippi Museum of Art is celebrating everything Natchez Saturday, and we couldn’t think of a better Mississippi city to claim the honor.
The exhibit “River and Reverie: Paintings of the Mississippi by Rolland Golden” is on display at the museum, and Saturday will include the pottery of Connor Burns, the writings of John Grady Burns and several tours led by former Natchezians.
Admission to the museum’s exhibits is free Saturday for all current and former Natchez residents.
Those of us living in Natchez know how special our city is, but it’s great to receive such recognition on the state level.
The history and culture of our home is widely known — in Mississippi and the world — and Natchez Day at the museum should serve as a reminder of just how unique our city is.
With a growing community of artists, writers and creative thinkers, we know the galleries of the Mississippi Museum of Art will one day bear even more signs of Natchez.
Thanks to the museum for the special day, and congratulations to Natchez for earning it.
