FERRIDAY — An early morning fire led to the death of a 95-year-old woman in Ferriday Wednesday.

Sarah Crumb, 311 Morning Star Alley, was pronounced dead at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday after a fire ravaged her home at approximately 8:08 a.m.

The Ferriday Fire Department responded to the call and was able to get Crumb out of the house alive, before she passed away later at the hospital.

FFD Chief Joe Sontoyo said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
