NATCHEZ — Services for Lena Alfreda Gaines Brown, 72, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Pilgrim Baptist Church with the Rev. Melvin White officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and from noon until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Brown was born in Natchez, the daughter of Arnola Woods Ford and William Gaines. She was raised by her stepfather, Herbert R. Ford. She was Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather.

Survivors include seven children, Brenda F. Jones and husband, Charlie, and Herbert Ford and wife, Arlene, all of Winnfield, La., Bernice Hooper of Jackson, Angela Johnson and husband, Levi, Valarie Smith, Janice Herrington and husband, Hugh, all of Natchez, and Yolanda Brown of Tennessee; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one stepson, Keyon Mearday; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
