JACKSON — Thanks to more than 5,800 votes from Facebook users, Friends of Children’s Hospital will start 2011 with a $25,000 grant from the Entergy Charitable Foundation.
Friends of Children’s Hospital was the top vote-getter among five Mississippi charities in Entergy’s The Power to Care Facebook Challenge.
“When Entergy approached us to get involved with the Challenge we jumped on board. I speak for the entire board of directors when I say thank you to all the Facebook friends who voted for our organization,” said Bob Romine, president of the board of directors for Friends of Children’s Hospital.
Friends of Children’s Hospital will use these funds to support their child life activity program and playrooms.
The competition began in early October and allowed anyone with a Facebook account to vote twice a month for one of five charities.
