FERRIDAY — Services for Bessie Ree Roberts, 87, of Ferriday, who died Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be at 10 a.m. today at Miss-Lou Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Gary Howington and the Rev. George Guy officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Mrs. Roberts was born Oct. 31, 1923, in Wisner, La., the daughter of William Ellis Mason and Lizzie Catherine Persilla Mason. She was a homemaker and an active member of Pentecostal of the Miss-Lou.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dock Roberts; her parents; three brothers, Dee Mason, Harvey Mason and Buddy Mason; four sisters, Myrts Roberts, Rithey Bowlin, Nettie Walker and Verytis Lee Hutto; and one grandson, James H. King Jr.

Survivors include two daughters, Jean Raley and husband, Jerald, and Shirley King and husband, James, all of Ferriday; two sons, Harold Byrnes and wife, Kathy, and Donnie Byrnes and wife, Sissy, all of Ferriday; one stepdaughter, Dolly Roberts Cornwell and husband, Morrel, of Mulvain, Kan.; two sisters, Jewel Ferrington of Wisner, La., and Elois Smith of Sicily Island; 11 grandchildren, Bill Raley, Justin King, Brandon Byrnes, Jessie Cornwell, Scott Cornwell, Beverly Maples, Tywanna Bolyer, Renee King, Megan Pahanka, Lacy Bryan and Bonnie Chance; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Bert Pahanka, Bill Raley, Chad Maples, Chip Boyler Jr., Donny Maples, Joey Bryan and Sean Maples.

Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Byrnes and Justin King.
