Thompson named chair of government affairs

NATCHEZ — Chris Massey, president of the Home Builders Association of Mississippi announced on Jan. 21, that Richard “Dick” Thompson, of Live Oak Landscapes and Construction in Natchez was appointed as chairman of the government affairs committee for the 2011 term.

This committee is charged with processing all governmental and political issues for submission to the board of directors. The committee is also the lobbying arm of the Home Builders Association and will help keep legislators informed on housing issues and keep members updated on legislative activity.

Thompson is the owner of Thompson Tree and Spraying Inc., which does business as Live Oak Landscapes, Construction and Nursery and Garden Centers. He has served as president of the Adams County Home Builders Association for the past two years and is actively involved in many community and civic associations.

As chair of the committee, Thompson will be meeting with members of the legislature in Jackson as well as representing the Home Builders on specific issues affecting the 4,000 plus members of the association. He will also be attending the quarterly association meetings and the annual convention in June.
