Vehicular homicide charges filed

FERRIDAY — Charges have been filed against the 25-year-old driver in a one-car wreck on Christmas Eve that sent two people to the hospital and left one dead.

Brown was driving a 2007 Pontiac G6 when he reportedly lost control of the vehicle and exited the right side of the roadway. The car then struck a tree.

Louisiana State Police and Concordia Fire District No. 2 officials received an emergency call at 2:40 a.m.

Brown received moderate injuries and was transported to Riverland Medical Center.

His passengers, Darren Brooks, 26, and Kzarious Fletcher, 22, were more seriously injured. Both men were also transported to Riverland.

Fletcher was later transported to Rapides Regional Medical Center where he died a week later.

Brooks and Brown were treated for their injuries and released.

The accident occurred on Fisherman Drive near Ferriday. Brown was driving west.

Brown is currently in custody at the Concordia Parish Correctional Facility, and faces a bond of $26,500 for the charges.

A court date has yet to be set for Brown.
