Weather forces local prep basketball games to be postponed

NATCHEZ — The recent winter storm that wreaked havoc across much of Mississippi and Louisiana forced many of Friday night’s local and area high school basketball games to be postponed, with most of them now being rescheduled until today.

Natchez High’s home games against Brookhaven will take place today with the varsity girls’ game starting at 1 p.m. Cathedral’s Region 7-1A games at Sebastopol have been postponed until 2 p.m. today.

The Region 7-3A games between Franklin County and Hazlehurst at Hazlehurst will take place today at 1 p.m. Monterey’s District 6-B games at Glenmora will be played at 3 p.m. today.

Ferriday will play at Mangham in District 2-2A action beginning at 5 p.m. today. Also, Lady Trojans head coach Lisa Abron said the Ferriday at Lake Providence games, which were postponed due to some officials’ associations going on strike, will now take place next Wednesday at 6 p.m.

However, not all games that were not able to take place Friday night because of the inclement weather were postponed until today.

Vidalia’s District 3-3A games at Buckeye will not take place until 6 p.m. Wednesday. Block will play at Montgomery in District 3-1A action at 6 p.m. Monday.

Jefferson County’s games at Hinds Agricultural High School have been canceled and will not be made up.
