Kerekes promoted to Democrat sports editor
NATCHEZ — Michael Kerekes has been named the sports editor of The Natchez Democrat.
Kerekes has served as a sports reporter at The Democrat since August 2009, covering all local schools and coordinating the weekly Adventures page.
“Michael has done a great job reporting on an array of Miss-Lou sports up to this point and I feel the sports section will continue to improve under his leadership,” Democrat Managing Editor Julie Cooper said. “We are excited about a ‘new season’ in our sports department.”
Kerekes was a 2009 graduate of the University of Alabama where he earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism with a minor in history.
His experience prior to coming to Natchez included work with the Tuscaloosa News in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
A native of Tuscaloosa, Kerekes is a graduate of Paul W. Bryant High School.
