FAYETTE — Services for Christopher “Chris” Council, 39, of Fayette, who died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at noon Saturday at Poplar Hill African Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. E. Charles Cotton officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home in Fayette.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Council was born March 6, 1971, in Jefferson County, the son of Hattie “Honey” Counsel and Davis Cosey. He was a 1992 graduate of Job Corp.
Mr. Council was baptized at an early age and joined Poplar Hill A.M.E. Church under the leadership of the Rev. John Quinn.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Sidney “Sid” Counsel Sr. and Amanda “Coot” Counsel; paternal grandparents, Alex Cosey Sr. and Minerva “Ba” Cosey; and four uncles, Benward “Ben” Counsel, Roosevelt “Bennie” Counsel, Oscar Cosey and O’Neal “Jack” Cosey.
Survivors include parents of Fayette; two brothers, Arthur Council of Fayette and Percy Council and wife, Carolyn, of Houston, Texas; three sisters, Amanda O’Quinn and husband, Napoleon, Shonda Wright and Shirquelle Wright, both of Fayette; one godbrother, Keith “Toby” Gaines of Fayette; two uncles, Sidney Counsel Jr. and wife, Lillian, and Alex Cosey Jr., all of Fayette; six aunts, Mary Jean Dixon, Susie Gaines, Helen Jackson, Frances Ballard and husband, Tom, Anita C. January and Zella “Tiny” Cosey, all of Fayette; special friend, Irene Short of Fayette; like a sister, Vivian Malone of Fayette; six nephews; three nieces; and a number of cousins and close friends.
