Earnest Johnson

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Memorial services for Earnest Lee Johnson, 57, of Milwaukee, Wis., formerly of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Milwaukee, will be today in Milwaukee and today in Natchez at 4 p.m. at the Natchez Recreation Center on Triumph Lane.
A repast will follow each service.
Mr. Johnson was born July 28, 1953, in Natchez, the son of Eddie Holmes Sr. and Frankie Holmes.
Mr. Johnson grew up in Natchez. He was a Baptist. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a disabled veteran. He received a number of educational degrees and retired as a social worker for the State of Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his father; three brothers, Larry Holmes, Tony Wayne Holmes and Frank E. Holmes; grandparents; and one foster daughter.
Survivors include his wife, Claudia Stetz; his loving mother; one daughter, Sarah Johnson, all of Racine, Wis.; three sons, Earnest Grinnell of Minnesota, Derrick Lewis and wife, Danielle, of Natchez and Marcus Johnson of Racine; 10 grandchildren; three sisters, Beverly Gibson of Ferriday, Audrey Johnson of Natchez and Shirley Davis of Houston, Texas; one brother, Eddie Holmes and wife, Margie, of Natchez; two aunts, Jeanette Hillard of Albuquerque, N.M., and Luella Reed of Racine; four uncles, Willie Lee Holmes, Charles Holmes and John Bacon, all of Natchez, and Clifton Reed of Racine; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends in Natchez, Racine and the Milwaukee area; special cousin, Jessie Lewis; best friend, Walter McDaniel; and former wife/best friend, Terri.
