JONESVILLE — Services for Houston Book, 88, a lifetime resident of Larto, La., who entered into eternal rest Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, in Jonesville, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Pentecostal Church of Jonesville with the Rev. Jack Knapp and the Rev. Lloyd Trisler officiating.
Burial will follow at Nichols Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Jonesville.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the church.
Mr. Book was born April 27, 1922, the son of Clay and Lovina Book.
Houston was a devoted Christian and he took pleasure of the simple things in life, such as watching his many gardens grow and fishing. His lifetime job was oilfield work. He was a faithful servant of the Lord and he set an example for others to follow. He was loved by all that knew him and will forever be loved and respected by his family.
Today he is in the presence of the almighty God and of loved ones that have preceded him that include his parents and four brothers, Silas Book, H.C. Book Jr., Cary Book and Leroy Book.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 66 years, Aquilla Parker Book; two sons, Fred Book and wife, Maple, of Tullos, La., and Ricky Book and wife, Dixie of Jonesville; two grandchildren, Ty Book and wife, Dawn, of Uraina, La., and Stephanie Clark and husband, Waymon, of Tullos; three great-grandchildren, Anna Clark, Clay Clark and Seth Book; and one brother, Nap Book and wife, Martha.
Pallbearers will be Ty Book, Waymon Clark, Nap Book Jr., Cary Book, Clois Book and Randy Book.
Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Ray Book, Melvin Book and Petie Book.
