Whitmore joins Democrat staff as sports reporter

NATCHEZ — Justin Whitmore has joined the staff of The Natchez Democrat as a sports reporter.

Whitmore will be covering all local teams and coordinating the adventure page.

Whitmore comes from Birmingham where he covered high school football for The Birmingham News as stringer.

He graduated from the University of Alabama in 2008, where he majored in journalism and minored in English. Whitmore went on to earn his master’s degree in community journalism at Alabama in 2009. He was a sports intern at the Anniston Star in the summer of 2009.

Whitmore’s hobbies include watching sports, especially college sports and major league baseball, and reading.

At Vestavia Hills High School Whitmore played basketball, baseball and football.
