KIRBY – Services for Idella Mae Shorts Gibson, 71, of Roxie, who died Friday, March 4, 2011, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Burial will follow at Old Sixteen Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home in Bude.
Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Gibson was born July 27, 1939, in Kirby, the daughter of John Wesley Shorts and Lou Ella Bradford Shorts.
Mrs. Gibson was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Robinson Gibson; parents; one son, Baby Rafus Gibson; three sisters, Mattie Hidgon, Emma Alexander and Leslie Mae Johnson; one brother, Luther V. Shorts.
Survivors include four loving daughters, Jacqueline Mitchell and husband, Fred, Joyce King and husband, Willie “Pig”, Julie Smith and husband, George, and Sharon Hunt and husband, Keith; five devoted sons, Greg Gibson and wife, Enethia, Ronald Gibson and companion, Lorraine Smoot, Demond Gibson and companion, Shirley Anderson, Rafus Gibson and wife, Shelita, and John Gibson and wife, Sheliria; four sisters, Ollie Mae Wolverton, Geneva Brown, Augustine Holloway and Jessie Rea Peterson; one brother, Willie John Shorts; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one god son, Richard Cameron; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
