WATERPROOF — Services for John William Glen Cooper, 82, who died Saturday, March 12, 2011, at his residence, will be 2 p.m. today at Ferriday Church of God with the Rev. Jim Miles and the Rev. Bob Cooper officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Natchez under the direction of Comer Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Visitation will be from noon until service time today the service in the church.

Mr. Cooper was born on April 2, 1928, in Valley View, Texas, the son of Alton W. and Etta H. Cooper.

Mr. Cooper had been a resident of Waterproof for 56 years and a member of the Ferriday Church of God. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy. He was retired from the oil field, where he was a driller.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Paula Glynn Cooper.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Helen H. Cooper of Waterproof; his daughter, Lois Mason of Rayville; one granddaughter Jyssica Lauren Mason, both of Rayville, La.; several chosen sons and daughters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Jim Funderburg, William Sydney Crigler, David Ferry, Lehman Jones, Jeremy McKelwee and Robert Myers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Herman Gibson, Dick Smith, Leroy King, Vandel McEntyre, Dalton Mason, Don Woods and Rodney Joyce.
