Monterey pitching leads them to win

MONTEREY — Paige Bryan scattered six hits and struck out six batters in a complete-game performance as the Monterey Lady Wolves defeated the Glenmora Lady Wildcats 4-1 Tuesday afternoon to remain undefeated in LHSAA District 6-B.
Bryan got all the run support she needed in the bottom of the first inning as Monterey scored three runs. Karlee Woodruff singled to score Ellen Bairnsfather and Jody Duncan. Taylor Morace reached on an error and scored when Ashley Wilson laid down a sacrifice bunt.
Glenmora scored its only run of the game in the top of the fourth. Monterey scored its last run of the game in the bottom of the fifth. Woodruff ended up going 3-for-4 with the two runs batted in. All 10 of the Lady Wolves’ hits were singles.
Losing pitcher Joni Johnson went 2-for-3 with a double, as did Adrienne Melder, to lead the Lady Wildcats at the plate.
Monterey (11-1, 2-0) hits the road to take on Rapides Thursday at 4 p.m.
Bolton at Vidalia postponed
VIDALIA, La. — Vidalia’s home game against LHSAA District 3-3A opponent Bolton that had been rescheduled from Monday to Tuesday because of the inclement weather Monday afternoon has been postponed yet again due to Vidalia’s softball field being unplayable.
Vidalia’s next game will be Thursday at home against Buckeye in a district game beginning at 4 p.m. with the junior varsity game followed by the varsity game. Lady Vikings head coach Gary Parnham said no make-up date has been set on the game against Bolton.
