WASHINGTON — Services for Bernadine Bland “Pat” Doss, 52, of Natchez, who died Sunday, March 13, 2011, at her residence, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Baptist Church in Washington with the Rev. Dan Alexander officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Doss was born Aug. 10, 1958, in Natchez, the daughter of Bernice H. Davis and Curtis Bland. She attended North Natchez High School and Jackson State University. She was employed by Tensas Detention Center in Tensas Parish, La.

Mrs. Doss was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church choir and True Love Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her father; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Hamilton, Justine Rice and Samuel Bland; four uncles, Otis Hamilton, AC Hamilton, Cardell Hamilton and Jerry Rice; two aunts, Lillie Brown and Beatrice Gaylor; and a special cousin, Damaine Murray.

Survivors include her mother; two daughters, Erica D. Newell and husband, Randall, and Jasmine J. Doss; one grandson, Randall Newell III; one sister, Geraldine B. Conrad and husband, Joseph; four brothers, Curtis Bland Jr., Curtis Dromgoole, both of Natchez, Glenn Dromgoole and Kenneth Dromgoole, both of Dallas; two nieces, Shanterial Bland of Atlanta and Kirsten Dromgoole of Natchez; one nephew, Curtis Bland Jr.; seven aunts, Katie R. Murray and husband, Vincent, Sue Willie Washington and husband, Dan, Neotha Snyder, Vivian Wallace, Jeanette Foster, all of Natchez, Rubydell Bright and husband, Willie, of Chicago, and Elisa Osborne and husband, Willie, of Mobile, Ala.; three uncles, Charles Hamilton and wife, Shirley, of Natchez, Willie Rice and wife, Polly, of Jackson and Samual Bland and wife, Clara, of St. Francisville, La.; husband and longtime companion, Jerome Doss; mother-in-law, Lovie Lee Doss of Fayette; four special friends, Katie Anderson, Daphaney Stancel, Mary Rose Rollins and Florence Hunt Washington, all of Dallas; one godson, De’vonta M. Stancel; and a number of cousins.

Pallbearers will be Michael Miller, Jerome Smith, Travon Lyles, Melvin Gaylor, Tom Ellis and Norman Benard.
