GLOSTER — Services for Robert Stone Sr., 88, of Crosby, who died Thursday, March 17, 2011, at his residence, will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Gloster with the Rev. Pat Smith officiating.
Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery near Crosby under the direction of Brown Funeral Home in Gloster.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 11:30 a.m. until service time Sunday at the church.
Mr. Stone was born Oct. 21, 1922, in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, the son of Harry and Elizabeth Stone. He was raised in Ashtabula, Ohio, and has lived in Crosby since 1959. He was a retired mill manager with International Paper Company in Crosby.
Mr. Stone was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Woodville.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Ashley Stone; his second wife, Lillian Walters Stone; infant daughter, Elizabeth Jane Stone; his parents; one brother, Jerry Stone; and his father and mother-in-law, Alex and Phalba Joseph Ashley.
Survivors include one son, Robert “Bobby” Stone and wife, Pam, of Crosby; one daughter, Joanne Robinson and husband, Robert, of Denham Springs, La.; four granddaughters, Dr. Jennifer Ermon and husband, Michael, of Pine Grove, La., Janna Robinson of Washington, D.C., Julie Trahan and husband, Chris, of Greenwell Springs, La., and Tori Stone of Centreville; three great-grandchildren, Grayson and Hayden Ermon and Gracie Trahan; one sister, Margarite Matyas of Marietta, Ga.; and one sister-in-law, Rose Stone of Hayes, Va.
Pallbearers will be David Ashley Jr., Rohn Ashley, Chris Trahan, Michael Ermon, Dennis Bellard and John Mizell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lev David Ashley and Clyde Wayne Ashley.
The family especially thanks Mr. Robert’s caregivers, Ann Johnson, Jackie Randall, Fannie Hazlip, Dora Owen, Renee Johnson, Dr. Kenneth Stubbs and Deaconness Home Health.
