Gunshots fired in Roselawn
NATCHEZ — Natchez Police are investigating a suspect responsible for firing six to 10 gunshots that hit at least one man on Roselawn Drive early Sunday morning.
A Natchez Police report said an officer heard the shots at 12:11 a.m. On the way to the scene, the officer saw a white Acura speeding which fled when the officer tried to pull it over.
The Acura crossed over Seargent S. Prentiss Drive onto Camellia Drive, where the driver stopped the car and fled the scene on foot.
Three passengers in the car surrendered to the police, and the report said after officers spoke with the passengers it was determined that they were involved in an altercation in which the shots were fired.
One black Glock 9 mm pistol and an 8-inch knife were recovered from the abandoned car before it was towed.
The three passengers Kedrick Smith, 21, Gervoni Ware, 23, and Jim Turner, 23, were taken to the police station and gave statements.
In a separate report from the same time Sunday, Antoine Bacon, said he was in the 2800 block of Roselawn Drive at his sister-in-law’s house, when he saw two men fighting in the street when heard gunshots. Bacon said ran up on the porch and realized he had been shot in the buttocks.
Bacon said he was an innocent bystander to the shooting.
