FERRIDAY — Services for James “Shorty” Metcalf, 55, of Cash Bayou, La., who died Tuesday, March 22, 2011, in Winnsboro, La., will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sunnyside Church with the Rev. Jerry Sharp officiating.
Burial will follow at Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Metcalf was born Sept. 28, 1955, in Ferriday, the son of James and Mary Lee Metcalf. He was employed by D&D Drilling for more the 35 years.
Mr. Metcalf was an active member of Sunnyside Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Chris Metcalf.
Survivors include one daughter, Amanda Metcalf of Wesson; one sister, Carolyn Gousset of Natchez; and one nephew, Kirk Cavin of Houston, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Russ Mason, Jerry Sharp Sr., Barry Sharp, Kenny Blaney, Jesse Horton, James “Coon” Clem, Casey Ashley and Dennis Nichols.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kirk Cavin, Richard Crews, Marshall Stafford, Bill Harrell, Bubba Wallace, R.T. Stockman, his extended family at D&D Drilling and the Sunnyside Church.
