JONESVILLE — Services for David Wayne Ryan, 52, of Jonesville, who died Thursday, March 24, 2011, at Christus St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, La., will be at 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church in Jonesville with the Rev. Graig James officiating.

Burial will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Jena, La.

Mr. Ryan was born Feb. 13, 1959, in Houston, Texas, the son of Myrtle Lou Ryan.

David was a very prominent member of the Jonesville community. He was a great journalist and photographer and made a number of contributions with his talent throughout the community.

David loved the Block Bears and was the LSU Tigers’ No. 1 fan. He was also a proud member of the Swayze’s Grocery softball team.

He was preceded in death by his mother and grandparents, Elton C. and Edna Boyd Ryan.

Survivors include one uncle, Louis Ryan and wife, Jeanette, of Houston; five aunts, Shirley Wyles Watson of Dardanelle, Ark., Sarah Wyles and husband, Dee, of Pearl, Judy Ryan, Ruby Ryan and Linda Ryan, all of Orange, Texas; a number of cousins; special friends, Anna Wilson, Gay Stockman and David McMillin (a.k.a. the Three Stooges), Alice Carriere and Sherry Wilkerson; and a number of other friends.

Pallbearers will be David McMillin, Robert Lee Swayze, Ronnie Swayze, Mark Taylor, Morgan Passman, Larry Wilson, Chris Ryan, Robbie Swayze and Walter Keyes.

Honorary pallbearers will be Freddie Delhoste, James Glen Kelly, Buddy Trisler, Cary Shively, Nap Book, Raymond Nicholson, Randy Baker, Randy Crawford, Benny Reppond, Jerry Oxley, Micah Hughes, Toby Wilson, Jordan Wilson, Zane Brown and Thomas Bourgoyne.
