NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Lucile Bellis Steele, 87, of Brookhaven, formerly of Vidalia, who died Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at Brookmanor Nursing Home in Brookhaven, will be at 11 a.m. today at the Natchez City Cemetery with Dr. Garland Boyd officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Steele was born July 12, 1923, in Adams County, the daughter of Fieldon Whitney Whittington and Sarah Louise Eames Whittington.

Mrs. Steele was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Charles L. Bellis Sr. and Loyd W. Steele; one son, Charles L. Bellis Jr.; three sisters; and one brother.

Survivors include one son, Terry Bellis and wife, Donna, of New Ilebron; one daughter, Shirley B. Smith of Madison; one stepson, Leon Steele of Baton Rouge; one stepdaughter, Doris Mobeck of Illinois; two grandsons, Tommy Bellis and wife, Candice, of Raymond and C. Paige Herring and wife, Sandi, of Madison; one granddaughter, Loree H. Coleman and husband, Danny, of Eddiceton; five great-grandsons, Daniel Coleman, John Ethan Coleman, Joshua P. Herring, Erik N. Herring and Brody Bellis; one great-granddaughter, Caroline S. Coleman; one daughter-in-law, Patty Bellis of Vidalia; one brother-in-law, Dr. James Bellis and wife, Arlene, of Greenville, S.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Danny Coleman, Paige Herring, Freddy Marks, Jimmy Trindle, Tommy Bellis and John Ethan Coleman.

Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to a charity of choice.
