NATCHEZ — The Natchez Fire Department was on a roll Monday morning in front of Fire Station No. 2 on John R. Junkin Drive. Over three days, crews will test more than 20,000 feet of fire hose, enough to cross the Mississippi River bridges four times, as part of an annual inspection.

Ben Hillyer | The Natchez Democrat — Firefighter Gordon Morrison spreads out a length of hose to make sure water is drained before rolling it up and storing it on one of the Natchez fire departments tanker trucks.

Lt. Robert Arrington and firefighter Tyrone Griffin squeegee out water from one of the department’s fire hoses.

Lt. Brad Walker puts up a roll of hose after it was tested Monday morning.
