FERRIDAY – Services for Hershel Harrison Waller, 82, of Vidalia, who died Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Sycamore Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Cullum and the Rev. Bob Green officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Waller was born Jan. 23, 1929, in Sikes, La.
He was a retired pipe fitter from Armstrong Tire and Rubber and a member of Sycamore Baptist Church. He served his country in the United States Naval Reserve where he received the Victory and Good Conduct Medal.
Mr. Waller was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Pembrook Waller; his mother, Nancy Elizabeth Waller; one son, Wayne Waller; one grandson, Jeffery Al-lyn LaPrarie; two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his wife, of 61 years, Lois Ables Waller of Vidalia; one daughter, Elaine Waller LaPrarie and husband, Gerald, of Bently, La.; two sons, Glen Waller and wife, Relda, of Greenwood and Gary L. Waller and wife, Pam, of Vidalia; one brother, Delbert Waller of Natchez; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
