FERRIDAY – Services for Roosevelt Lyles, 89, of Vidalia, who died Monday, April 4, 2011, at Promise Hospital in Vidalia, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Thomas Baptist Church in Levee Heights with the Rev. Carl Smith officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Lyles was born May 14, 1921, in Vidalia, the son of Jack and Evelina Williams Lyles.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II.
Survivors include one son, Larry Lyles and wife, Betty, of Sacramento, Calif.; one daughter, Renee Buie and husband, Dan, of Charlotte, N.C.; one stepson, Terry Williams and wife, Gwendolyn, of Virginia; one grandson, Anthony Lyles of Sacramento; one great-grandson, Jaron Lyles of Sacramento; four granddaughters, LaTonya Lyles, Kimberly Lyles, Danielle Lyles and Danielle Buie and husband, Gonzalez, of Chicago and California; two brothers, Jack Lyles Jr. of Jackson, La., and Charles Lyles of Ferriday; five sisters, Mary Anderson of Ferriday, Carrie Lyles, Surnetta Cage, Margaret Jones and Evelina Cage and husband, Abner, all of Vidalia; two devoted nieces, Jessie Mae Calvit and husband, Andrew, and Daisy Lyles, all of Vidalia; one goddaughter, Margaret Mays of Vidalia; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
